Shift Supervisor (Martins Creek Power Plant)

Talen Energy has a job opening for a Shift Supervisor at our Martins Creek power plant, which is a dual fuel station (natural gas & oil) comprised of 2 units with 850 MW output each. Martins Creek is located in Bangor, Pennsylvania.

Job Summary

Overall responsibilities would be the safe operations and maintenance and modification which might also include engineering, project management and work management activities at the plant. Provide process oversight, leadership and direction to engineering, contractors, plant maintenance and plant operations personnel. In addition, if assigned, engineering support, planning, direction, scheduling and management of outage and non-outage work management functions, project management activities, ensures that work is completed effectively, efficiently, within budget, in compliance with plant and company policies, and with safe engineering and work practices in mind.

Primary Responsibilities

  1. Provide supervision, direction, and leadership to the plant operations and maintenance staff.

  2. Develop and implement plant maintenance strategies for safe, efficient, and cost effective operation of the power plant.

  3. Identify new O&M and Capital Projects. Resolve technical issues related to operation of the plant.

  4. If assigned, perform Project Management and Engineering duties for plant O&M and Capital projects. These duties include project coordination, contract administration, material tracking, scheduling and cost monitoring.

  5. Perform day to day troubleshooting on equipment to support on time startups and reliable and efficient unit operation.

  6. Oversee and manage preventative and predictive maintenance activities. Ensure that activities are completed efficiently within the given budget constraints.

  7. Support plant safety, environmental, and operational goals through compliant plant operation and proper prioritization of the work management process.

  8. Schedule resources to support scheduled activities including O&M support, vendor support, and training. Utilize CMMS to plan, implement, and track maintenance activities. Approve work orders, material orders and contracts within rules of delegation of authority.

Basic Qualifications

  1. Minimum of 8 years power generation experience. Specifically, operation and maintenance of Combustion and Steam turbines and power generation Heat Recovery Steam Generators (HRSG).

  2. Working knowledge of power plant, design safety and environmental compliance.

  3. Working knowledge of the capital and O&M budget process.

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree preferred

This position works rotating Shifts. This position may require On-call/emergency response.
